Is nothing sacred? It seems that the Royal and Ancient sport of golf has has succumbed to the Twitter craze.
In fact, we have a confession to make. The team here at golf.com.au have to bear some responsibility…apologies to all the traditionalists out there!
Back in April of 2009 we (very quietly) launched our very own Twitter site at TwitRGolfers. This was the world’s very first Twitter site devoted exclusively to golf. Fast forward to November 2009 and our plan is to come out of the closet and really get this thing cranking.
The site is free to join and a great social community site for golfers who Twitter. In fact, whether you Tweet or not, we think you will enjoy the site.
At TwitRGolfers we are featuring some of the world’s leading golf “tweeters” including John Daly, Stuart Appleby, Ian Poulter, Stewart Cink, Natalie Gulbis and a host of others.
On top of that, we are joined by some the world’s leading golf bloggers – all converts to Twitter.
OK, we know what you are thinking – this Twitter thing just does not make any sense! Right?
Well, all we can suggest is that you give it a try. It’s all too hard to explain – at least in logical terms.
The fact is that the world is hooked on Twitter. As soon as a major news story breaks, on any subject, the Twittersphere lights up with the very latest updates – or tweets. Even, the mighty Google struggles to keep up.
Twitter is word of mouth on steriods! It is also a marketer’s dream – but that is a whole other story.
Here is your invite to join the world’s first Twitter site for Golf.
